My neighbor, before moving, passed along a couple of road bicycles. I thought I might give them some use, but due to some recent home-repair-related events, space is at a premium in our garage. Apparently the Trek setup was a pretty pricey setup in its day, but it’s seen a lot of use, & the Schwin is obviously a bit out dated (might be right in style with the hipster crowd though).

So my question is: Are these worth trying to sell, or should I just run them to goodwill?

FB marketplace for sure. They are not super high dollar bikes, but the Schwinn has some nice cranks. I used to strip down many of these bikes for parts on other bikes and to resell. Felt bad about stripping down a cool old school bike. Hold on to them, then post around early March. Once people realize how fat they got after Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years/Valentines/St. Pat's, they will be looking for anything on two wheels to ride and work off the pounds.

The Schwinn would sell for around $80-$100 as a whole, but the cranks alone on the Schwinn are worth @ $90-$100.

As mentioned above, not worth a lot, but worth enough to post on FB Marketplace (where, coincidentally, I just sold a bike yesterday). I concur with spistols, post them at $80-100, (and then be willing to negotiate). Lotta decent bike deals around, and folks ain't spending too freely.

I think it would be worth posting them for sale for a week or so and see what happens. You can always take them to GW or whatever if you wanted to afterwards. You may be surprised and they bring you a little extra cash .
