I know one can not carry in DC but if I fly in or come in by bus and am not staying there is it illegal to have my firearm in a locked container that is in my bag for the short time I am actually in DC?? No I have not taken the time to look at the laws, probably should but was curious to know if anyone here knew about this.

If I remeber correctly there policy is as long as you are passing through you will be ok. And since it will be in your luggage and not on your person they will never know. One cannot help where they're layover is.
