As to the 3.5l ecoboost it's a very good motor. ..I had the opportunity to pull a 6k trailer with one for a few miles. I can say that it was no diesel, but it out pulled my old f150 with the 5.4 3v!

That's not saying much. The 5.4 is the wimpiest engine ever
I've had a 4.7 first gen tundra that was waaay faster than my 5.4 expy. And my '12 tundra with the 5.7. Wow ! That's an engine ! Uses noticably less gas than the 5.4 ford too

I had a burgundy '88 trooper back about 20 years ago. You're right, very slow but also very capable off road. I miss taking mine out to remote fishing spots.

I haven't even had mine in 4WD. I missed out on a deal on a later one with the 2.3 liter. And I tried to buy one back in 2011 with the turbo diesel. Those are very rare. But the turbo was bad on it and the guy still wanted a thousand for it. And I couldn't find another turbo anywhere.

Depends on the weather but these are my 3 daily drivers. Hoping to replace the TL with an Imprezza WRX or Legacy AWD one day.

Nice El Camino! I used to have an '87 with a 383 Stroker and a Powerglide. It had a badass paint job on it too. I sold it to some rich guy for his 16 year old kid. Two weeks after the kid had it he got t-boned and it sat for a while. They finally got it fixed and then a few weeks, maybe a month, later he got t-boned again. It almost brought a tear to my eye.
