We've only been to a theater maybe 3 or 4 times in the last 20-25 years. My oldest son took me to see one of the Avenger movies on fathers day in 2013, my wife & I saw Act Of Valor & American Sniper and those are the only ones I remember. Sniper was & will be the last time we go. Redbox is a helluva lot cheaper plus I can pause the movie anytime I want and I don't have to be bothered with people I don't want to be around in the first place. Like @Patronus said, nobody is patting me down to see a friggin' movie. Screw em'.

My beautiful wife and I take a trip to Blue Ridge twice a year and it's always in the plans to go. We love it.

Saw that on our way home from TN last week. Said, "Hey Look! A drive-in theatre."

I'm like most here, only see a couple of movies at theaters a year. Mostly kids movies with daughter.

I love going to the movies. Always have. My kid does too. But you nailed my thoughts exactly. Prices have gotten ridiculous. And no way am I letting some high school kid shake me down to watch a movie.

As a teenager used to live at drive-ins. Don't remember seeing many movies however.

I too rarely go to the movies at a theater, but did happen to go last night. There was a police car parked conspicuously at the front entrance, and the policeman was standing behind the ticket taker. The ticket taker said they have a new policy of checking bags and backpacks, and no worries if you had snacks... They did check my wife's purse but paid no attention to either of us otherwise, certainly no "pat downs". If a person were discreetly carrying it would not be noticed or known, nor did they ask.

Out of curiosity I should've asked what they were looking for, maybe weapons, cameras, alcohol, or maybe just trying to comfort folks. I'll likely go to another movie in 6 months to a year or so, and I'll ask them!

The 20 dollar popcorn got me out of the theaters years ago. I don't mind paying the admission. But my wife insists upon popcorn and a drink. Its all Netflix & Amazon Prime for me now.

We usually got to the drive in in Blue Ridge or Trenton as their prices are cheaper. $7 per adults for 2 movies and $5 for kids, although we did go to the theater to see the new vacation movie last week and before 5pm the tickets are only $5.75.

We went to see MI 5 yesterday and they searched my wife's purse. No signs anywhere that said no CC though. I thought that was weird....
