My father in law died 8 months ago and we gave his JC Higgins model 41 to my 8 year old son. At some point the rifle was dropped and the stock was cracked and the buttplate has been lost. I can deal with the cracked stock but I’ve been trying to track down a buttplate for months without any luck.. Does anyone know if another model buttplate would work? Trying to get this back to its original form.

I found his initials R D carved into the stock today.

All the old parts houses I deal with are out of stock.
Did find this on eBay:
Thank you!! I’ve been cruising eBay for months but didn’t want to pay $100 for a stock.

Just noticed shipping is $30. Still cheaper than $100.

I like the idea of getting a second stock, and that one you can not only take the butt plate from,

but you could also cut off 2" from the back end wood, thus making the rifle a better fit for a young boy's stature and build.

When the kid's nearly a teenager, THEN you switch stocks back to your father-in-law's mostly original one.
