Dekalb PD going to 9mm

If I blow a hole in your head are you really going to care how big it is......somebody once said. Should have been Dirty Harry but don't think it was.

I was going to play around with the above words but I just received a friendly reminder yesterday on something else. My infractions are now running on to my a 2nd page. Maybe my wife has a point when she says I'm the only one who laughs at my jokes. aside from the voices in my head. I'm loving this thread, a mixture of great humor and great knowledge. And my posts.

The only way you're gonna get a one shot stop is a hit to the central nervous system. A hit to the central nervous system with any caliber will net the same result. Besides that it will likely take several shots to stop a determined attacker. What you're essentially doing is creating massive blood loss with those shots. A 45caliber hole isn't going to leak much faster than a 9mm hole. Also you're 9mm shots will be faster and more accurate. In many cases a 9mm also penetrates deeper than the old fart slower 45acp. You'll also have more ammo to create faster well placed shots from a 9mm. But as you can see above the quarter is the ultimate defensive pistol caliber.

Great visual.

Seems like this debate somehow still lingers on in multiple threads on here while in most professional circles & larger forums the caliber war has long been over.
I may print that visual reference for use in classes because it really helps drive home the point that there just isn't that much h difference in caliber when it comes to defensive pistol rounds..... but lots of emotion & unsupported opinions.

Funny part is is that Dekalb County was one of the last counties to switch to .40- and I want to say it was around 5 years or so ago when they traded in their Beretta 92G and Federal 9BPLE ammo. That wasn't much of a stretch for the .40!

Yep! I picked up on of the Dekalb PD trade-in 92G's......one of my favorite pistols. I run it as my secondary during the carbine courses I teach.

Do you have any idea what the internet would look like devoid of emotion and unsupported opinions?

Nothing worse than having some one mess up a perfectly good discussion by introducing some facts.
