Don't give up, don't ever give up. Can be so damn frustrating the first few times. You will definitely get it down. YouTube is your friend the first few times. You definitely need to disassmble it to thoroughly clean it.

Yep, semi auto 22's get nasty quick... but really yall my first first experience with one of these was one of dads friends had taken it apart and lost some parts. I had to figure it out and order the missing parts using my Gun Digest big book of exploded drawings and then assemble it. These days you have the internet and endless videos. You can figure it out.
i took the pistol to a local dealer and they put it back together for me, i tried hi-caliber first and they didn't want to even for their cleaning fee (the general consensus is this gun is pita to work with).
i will buy that bolt pin that can unscrew form the top sometime though as it seems to be far more sensible, the magazine disconnect is annoying but not deal breaker on this pistol as it's not an edc piece

The Majestic kit install is a little bit harder than the regular cleaning, but it's just the one time. From then on it's dead simple. However it may be worth it to you to have a gunsmith do the install.
