It doesn't but for most it's a way to trace steps back to where it came from. Just shows person A has relinquished this item to person B.
I think ownership is based on possession which is 9/10 of the law.

According to this website: http://www.alabamaopencarry.com/index-2.html

Current Alabama Law Prohibits Open Carry In These Locations:

1. At a public Demonstration see Section 13A-11-59

2. In a vehicle. Upon entering a vehicle you must have a concealed carry permit.

3. Where it is posted that firearms are not allowed. Even if the sign is unlawfull, they have the right to ask you to leave thier property. If you refuse you could be charged with tresspassing.

How do you interpret #2?

Dang that is a good question - over my head - I am not very smart anyway,
What it says to me is never leave home without my permit.

Looks like you can't have it loaded or accessible in your car without a permit.

http://www.firearmstransport.com/alabama/
A person may lawfully transport a firearm, including a handgun, from one state in which they are legal to possess to another state without a permit as required under Alabama law, provided the following conditions are met:
The firearm is unloaded.
Neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle.
In case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver’s compartment, the firearm and ammunition shall be in a locked container other than the glove box or console.

The Bulldog is still barking at me & begins to say that legislation is pushing to have ALL firearms registered so that they can know who the last owners were & "What if when we ran the numbers of your boyfriends gun, they came back to a crime???"
I Replied "Sir, we're gun rights advocates, & it's not law in our state to register the weapon with the government. We get our weapons through private sale most times &, in our state, all you need is a bill of sale to prove ownership should it ever come back stolen. Beyond that, we have friends who are LEO's & they run the numbers for us so we know they're clean upon purchase without registering them."
His response "Well does he have his bill of sale?!" , "Yes he do-. Wait... Do you mean in the truck with us?? No, he doesn't have his bill of sale for the clean firearm with him in the truck, it's in our safe, at home.."

Somewhere out there in ODT land there is a member silently banging his head against the wall.

Edit: I guess I'm not the first person to notice...
