Do you deprime separately?

First step for me is de-prime dirty brass with universal de-capping die.

Then into the wet tumbler with Dawn and SS pins so the primer pockets get cleaned out.
Rinse each case as they can hide pins then
I hand blow every piece out with dry compressed air but I'm considering a brass dryer!

Standard procedure from there.
I also spot check OAL every five or so during bullet seating just cause I'm so anal

Pulling the pin - yes (Edit: if you can. As Jackie Graham says below - depends on the manufacturer).

You need to keep the stem in because that's how you size and form the neck.

If you have a RCBS, Redding or Lyman die you can remove the pin. Lee and Dillon have a fixed pin and you would have to brake it off unless you already had a broken one.

I believe mine are pacific. My universal depriming die just got here and I’m depriming brass as we speak

I just didn’t know if I needed to use that pin or center stem. But completely makes sense that I need to keep it now

I have tried several universal decapping dies. I find the same problem with all of them. The flash hole on some of the 223/5.56 brass are not universal so getting the pin through is tough. I don't like lee because the decapping pins are soft steel and bend easily. RCBS are good but they have a large and small rod. The pins are the same.
I finally found one that I liked. It is a self centering decapping die made by FW Arms.
Then dillon bought the patent so now you have to get it from Dillon.

I have read about the same thing. I don’t load any 223 so all should be fine. I hope! 🤣🤣

If you find that the Lee decapping pin is an issue. FW Arms makes a pin that works with the Lee die. They are made of hardened steel and don't break as easily
