Do you still believe in charity?

family doesn't borrow money, they take it. my brother borrowed a pistol from my collection. that was 3 months ago

Good thing I don't have any brothers. That would call for some explanation or an ass whippin one. I don't lend money to any one. I am not a bank. Not to mention if I had money to lend it would be to a for sale add on here.

I give to a few charities that I researched to see how the money was handled. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is my main one because they saved my life ( and many others ) and it didn't cost my family anything. I was proud to do a giveaway for donations on here, with a rifle that I purchased ( with my own money ) from a member on here, to benefit St. Jude in a walk. The support on here was overwhelming, I am forever grateful to all who participated, and can't wait to do it again this year. I hope that no one was taken advantage of, and if so, may the punishment be severe and swift. DON'T LET IT DETER YOU FROM GIVING TO WORTHY CAUSES!

I watched an event unfold at a Kroger about a month or so ago.

I pull into the parking lot and at the entrance, there was a rather scruffy late 20's early 30's guy with two young kids maybe 5 and 7 years old. He was holding a sign saying "Please, need money to feed my children".

Felt sorry for the guy but having been burned many times in the past; yeah on the corner begging, I figured this was a new wrinkle in getting beer and cigarette money by using the kids.

Went in a got the few things I needed and as I was leaving, saw the guy, the kids and an obviously well heeled woman at the entrance and overheard conversation that went like this and I am paraphrasing.

"I am taking you and your children into this store and here are the rules. We're getting the largest shopping cart and going shopping for food. I mean healthful food and not junk food. No candy or none of that stuff. If I don't approve of it, I am not buying it. I don't care how much food you buy. Fill the cart to overflowing. I don't care what it costs. It just has to be food that's good for your kids and you.

When we're done, I will pay for it all and then give you $50.00 to get you and your kids a cab to where ever you stay at night. Those are the rules. Are we clear on that? I'm not just handing you money and assuming it will be spent on the right things."

Not an exact quote but pretty darn close. I was rather impressed with her approach.
