We're having to re-evaluate our child transporter. I have two bulged disc's in my lower back so a 4 door sedan is getting really hard swinging a 30 lb kid into. My whole reason for buying a sedan was to haul kids but I severely underestimated the size of the child seats. So I'm thinking of something that is chest height when setting kids inside. For now, we're limiting our offspring to two so I don't need a huge minivan necessarily. I also prefer rear wheel drive for ease of maintenance. Problem is I've never been in a Tahoe so I don't know if its too small or not after the booster seat is installed. Anyone have first hand experience? Any other recommendations? Thanks..

We had a Suburban for 6 years. It was awesome with transporting kids. It was not awesome when the motor crapped the bed at 144k miles due to the displacement on demand programming. No more chevys for us.

Im researching the 2007 right now to see when they started that... So there's no off button I take it?

Started in 2007. You can get a programmer to turn it off but any 2007 will probably already have enough miles for the damage to be done.

We did the car seat with a car (Maxima which was OK and BMW 528i which was a joke) and the car seat with an SUV (Highlander). SUV all day long for sure. Not really sure we'll ever buy another sedan even though we are well out of the car seat phase.
Only Tahoe I've spent any real time in was a 2 door. Obviously you don't want that. I'd imagine any 'full sized' SUV will work for your needs. It's amazing the 'stuff' required to haul kids around.

Swell... Found one on Craigs...Guess I'll look for 2006 or less..

Ive got a 2004 with 318,000 on it. Had to rebuild the tranny and new bearings in the rear end. The thing has been awesome. Now it’s retired and my 17 year old is driving it to school.

*raised 5 kids with it.
