Does anyone know what this stamped mark on a handgun is?

This is on an Ithaca 1911 made in 1945. Not sure if it’s a British proof or what. The gun is engraved.
I think the letters are BV.

“British Lend-Lease proofs applied prior to being disposed of in the 1950s, should have matching proofs on the slide, frame, and barrel. England had two Proof Houses: London and Birmingham. There are two commonly found sets of proof marks, the first is the Proof act of 1925-1955 the other is the Proof act of 1955. The 1955 proof act removed the requirement to mark the pistol “Not English Make". The London House proof has a crown over a "CP" on barrel and a crown over a "V" on barrel, slide, and frame. Birmingham House proof has a Crown over "BP" on barrel and a crown over "BV" on barrel, slide, and frame”
