Does your Avatar have meaning?

Mine is pic that I posed to send to my wife's Grandma. The bayonet on the end belonged to her husband, my wife's Grandpa who had recently passed away. We found it while we were helping her clean out some of his stuff. He served in the Pacific in WWII. Went ashore at Luzon and was part of the occupation army in Japan. She let me have it because I told her I had a M1 Garand at home that it would fit on.

Mine is a scan of my dad's patch when he was in WWII - the 8th Air Force, 306th bomber group, 367th bomber squadron

He died 3 years ago, but I have his written account of when his plane (he was the tailgunner) was shot down over France, and he was hid by the underground for 3 months.

The outfit I served with in 'Nam. Interesting history. The 26th Reg was part of the 5th Marine Div in WWII(Iwo anyone?). After the war the Division was deactivated. During 'Nam it was reactivated to reactivate the 26th and 27th Regiments. The 26th was attached to the 3rd Division, then the 1st Division then 9th MAB(Marine Amphibious Brigade) where we made beach landings south of Danang.
