From what I understand, labs are known for biting.

Nah man. Labs score very high in temperament testing, as do pit bulls. It may seem like you hear about a lot of lab bites but labs make up a large percentage of the dog population and are often misidentified just like the APBT.

My lab bit once. It taught my beagle not to steal his food, he acted like he had committed the worst sin ever after it and was terrified of the beagle.

My APBT has absolutely no food aggression. He'll let a completely strange dog eat from his bowl and will even back down from the dog if it becomes aggressive to him over his own food bowl. But another dog don't **** with his rawhide bone, he don't play that.
