I understand the cuckaboros (sp?) will attack the side of your head and peck your brains out through your ear canal...did the photographer live?

No that's the koala bears, they take a stick and jam it in your ear, push your brains out the other ear and eat them.

Yup, brain sucking is common amongst kookaburras but then we have plastic straws here.
