I really don't understand what the big deal is over a BOS....I've done deals with them and without them.........It's a piece of paper with some names and a serial number....so what......I'll tell you...my son sold a shotgun that he bought brand new...to a friend of his and did a BOS........about 3 month's later 2 ATF agents knocked on his door and was inquiring about the where abouts of his shotgun. When he told them he had sold it, he produced his BOS. They asked if he could make a copy on his printer which he did. After that they explained to him that his Shotgun was confiscated in an early morning drug raid in Ohio under a bed loaded from a multi convicted felon. Turns out that the friend of his that he sold it too...then in turn sold it to this "drug dealer"...no paperwork...no nothing. When they ran the numbers it came back to the gun shop where it was originally sold...and they produced the original paperwork showing ownership as my son. The friend my son sold it too was later arrested, his business was seized, all his assets frozen and it cost him almost 15K in lawyer fee's do get his mess straightened out. The ATF guys told my son that his paperwork and sale was in order, they thanked him, left...and he never heard from them again....so in THIS case...the BOS..saved my son a lot of grief!!!...
So if someone I deal with requires a BOS.....I'm ok with it. I'm not going to pass up a deal that I want because of a piece of paper.

Don't understand your question as this is apples and oranges.
To be absolutely clear - I would seriously doubt you would knowingly own or sell a stolen weapon, and I never stated that.

Bill of sale, in spite of anecdotal stories, has little if any legal weight. If it was notarised, maybe.
I conclude and keep the pms involved in any transaction, which with the phone number(s) will show all the necessary details in the very unlikely event that a leo knocks on my door about a weapon.

so i may be confused...since i purchased mine new from a gun store an wanted a bill of sale...means mine was stolen?????
