But in all seriousness, I highly recommend the items in my first two links above. The third I have never tried but would like to get one one day.
Doubt a rubber hose would work on my driveway, over half is gravel road..I am still looking for one!
Most of mine is gravel as well, but the beginning of the drive is paved as it’s the steepest part of the drive. So I have mine on the paved section, but when I was shopping for it I read the reviews and many people said that they successfully use one on a gravel drive.
We have a 1,500 foot driveway and are using the chamberlain cwa2000 it works for us and cheaper ($50) than the Dakota. Currently Amazon doesn't show it but HD and Lowe's do.

I got a wireless one at Harbor fright for about $20 been using it 2 years works good
The Dakota system with the buried sensor is the way to go. I put mine in 14 years ago and it is still going strong. Installed same for a neighbor about the same time and his is working great as well.

My point was that running over it on top of the gravel, will cut the hose over a short period of time..
