Emergency Water Supply

City water is required to have a trace amount of chlorine in it at the furthest point from the water plant. So, any water coming from the water plant has enough chlorine in it to store it safely for at very least 6 months, usually a year. Well water has no disinfection and can not be safely stored without adding chlorine. A constantly refreshing supply offers the best solution for MOST scenarios, with the exception being if the public water supply is tampered with or contaminated, in which case your supply is endangered too. Personally, I prefer and still want to build a water storage tree with 55 gallon drums on a wooden rack with a pvc fill/use tree.

Picture this, double wide with a dual pvc tree running between the columns. One tree runs to the top bungs and has a hose attachment at top for filling. The other tree runs to the bottom bungs and has a spigot for use/draining.

This system offers the ability to use/drain at will while still isolating your supply from outside contaminants.
