Welcome to the United States and NE Georgia. My quick advice:

- Read up on the local laws on hunting and firearms
- Meet and Talk with as many hunters as possible
- Public land in Georgia can be hit and miss with simple or complicated rules
- Hunt Clubs/Lease can be hard to find and maybe a little expensive, but once you find one you love, you will never want to leave the land or the group of fellow hunters you met.

Acquiring fire arms in the UK can be a pain.
Firstly all firearms licences are done through the police in your county.
Secondly handguns…… you can get handguns as a civilian for
1) slaughtering livestock (limited to 3 round capacity)
2) certain .22 competitive pistols

Shotguns and hunting rifles:
You have to show written permission from land owners proving that you have the right to be on the land and that the land is deemed fit up to a certain calibre limit.
Background check and medical certification and a home/safe check.

You can only have exactly what you ask for so a specific caliber, gun type and a limited amount of rounds. So i cant just go and buy as many guns as i like.

I hope that makes some kind of sense and wasnt too much gibberish?

Hey all,

Im new here both to the site and the state and the country haha.

I have been hunting and shooting back in the UK for 25+ years hunting everything from rats and rabbits all the way up to all 6 deer species in the UK.

I am really keen to meet up with some local hunters and ideally get out do some hunting here and see how you guys do it.
I dont mind for what as i am just keen to get out as i miss hunting.

Is there anyone that could point me in the right direction for someone that could possibly help out?
