Englishman in NE GA

Thank you.

Im from West Sussex, so way down south.
Love the UK…..actually trying to get temporary assignment in London in next year. Hampton Court Palace is about as far south as I’ve been. Explored all the way up to York, Pately Bridge area and the Dales. Great place….hope I can call it home for a few years soon.

Where are you in GA now?

Oh how i miss seeing the back of a hilux looking like this.
Are you shooting flight paths or decoying them?

I would love to join one day, is it year round?
We can shoot them year round. They roost in the roof of our free stall barns and fly to the feed pit where we mix feed every morning. We haven’t used decoys much but I’m sure they’d help. We let a large group 50-100 start feeding in the pit then we shoot on the next birds coming behind them and you get to shoot at the first group coming back. That dance works 5-6 times but they get smart quick.

You were not too far from me with Hampton court. I love the UK but its not the UK i grew up in (i know everyone says that lol) but it really isnt. I will miss the countryside tho for sure. What line of work are you in then? Military?

And im in GA now as i fell in love, met a Georgia girl and we are now married 😊

It seems to work, thats for sure.

I have done the same thing and its good fun, but like you say they wise up…… thats where decoys become your friends, they always think that there is something feeding.
When we are decoying We try target the smaller groups 2,3,4’s as 1) you have a better chance of killing them all 2) you dont educate all of them 😂

But i would sit all day for pigeons, im guessing you are working while doing this?

Most of the time I’m working but more and more friends wanna go so we started doing it mainly on Sundays. It’s good practice and keeps us sharp before duck season. Friends bring their kids to shoot because there’s plenty to shoot at and keeps their interest.
I’ll order some decoys to try for next time thanks for the advice!
