The point is, what is a gallon of gas worth? It is worth whatever people are paying for it correct? A Colt 6920 may have only been 1100 LAST week, but this week you cannot find one under 2000 dollars. Does that mean that people are paying more than a 6920 is worth? No, it means people are paying what they cost NOW. 6 months from now, the value may come down, or it may go up, or it may become completely unavailable. The fact of the matter is, if you want one NOW, you are going to have to be willing to pay at least as much as other people are clearly willing to pay.

Unlike gas, current AR prices are being set by what people are willing to pay. Price it too high, people won't buy it. Price is too low, someone will buy it and resell it for market value while making a nice profit.

I was just using your example. I agree. Although, not using gas is not an option for the majority, so the Marlet Makers do have you by the short hairs.

I personally think people need to stop going full retard. You never go full retard.

It's just funny to see who the sheep are.

Big difference between Economics 101 and gun grabbing Chuckdog.

The supply was not, and is not low. When supply goes low, then the prices should be affected. Folks grabbing all they can from gun shops CURRENT inventory, then re-selling here for assinine prices is just wrong. These gun shops will be re-stocked as soon as things can get caught up from all this SPECULATION on what will be banned, if anything.

I'm fine with my inventory and have been for a while, so none of these prices are affecting ME. But I hate to see the turmoil on the site lately.

As soon as supplier get caught up and these GOUGERS are put in their place, what will all of you defending this GOUGING say then? Econ 101, supply and demand blah blah....

You feel like I'm whining, list me. But you're missing out, not me.

I fully understand the whole "market" theory, maybe it's that I have too much love for the ODT? Today the site reminds me of craigslist, people joining just to see if they can sell a ****ing mag or AR at completely outrageous prices and then gone to never return to the site. I thought we had class, I thought we as whole (the otd family) stood differently in our firearm community . It blew my mind that our family would take part in this craze of acting like mad men in a buying and selling frenzy over something that hasn't even happened yet. Betcha Obama and all the anti gun people are laughing at us now.

Yep

Which makes people claims of "price gouging" for a non essential item like a ****ing pmag that much more stupid.

You're right, price gouging is not what's going on. Frenzy is what's going on.

We use the term "responsible" gun-owner a lot. How responsible do we look when people are scouring stores and websites, paying anything? I just believe it makes us look REALLY bad as a whole. If somebody is paying 1500 for an Oracle I believe their "responsible gun-owner" title should be revoked.

That makes no sense at all. The guy selling will be fine if the price comes back down. It's the people that are buying.....buying, the same people that drive a market.....the buyers, they will be the ones that get hurt here.

No one could sell anything at elevated prices if there were no buyers. You are just whining.

This is nothing like selling a generator at 3 times the price after a storm, that would be price gouging. You do not need any of the items that are selling at prices you complain about. They are a luxury and again, the buyer sets the market not the seller.

It is economics 101, hate on the folks pushing the market for a while.
