F U Costco

But its their policy right? just like showing a receipt at walmart.

Why do you get to pick and choose what policies that a business has you get to dismiss and which ones you want to adhere to?
Because adhering to a receipt policy doesn't endanger my life. Adhering to a no guns policy does. It's that simple. Sometimes you just have to use you head and decide which battles are worth fighting and which aren't. I usually don't go to stores with no guns policies anyway, for a variety of reasons.

The two I go to on occasion don't check me anymore. I honestly think they used to check me because it wouldn't lead to a confrontation over stolen goods. They were told to spot check X number per hour, and would focus on the ones that were safe. Once, years ago, they checked my receipt line by line while several youths walked out carrying one bag. I had a full buggy with a couple hundred worth of stuff. I told her it was the last time i was stopping.

I used to buy a hundred bucks of batteries once a week for the department of a small company I managed, every single time I walked out the door (after paying) the alarm went off and someone ran over to scan the sensors or check my reciept. After a couple of months of being polite I simply ignored them and said no thanks. Half the time they followed me across the parking lot with me saying "no thanks" and walking away.

Not a membership club but one of the big "hardware" retail stores. Eventually they just ignored, the grumpy guy that was ignoring them. They know if they cross a line by harassing you their ass will be giving away far more money away than someones daily purchase.

Not if it is part of a membership, you signed up for it and while they had no legal recourse they can simply cancel your membership (which I doubt happenes).

maybe they are checking to make sure you have everything you paid for.

Good point.

When you buy the $100 gift cards for restaurants like Ray's or others for $79.95 they always ask to make sure you have them. After you pay for them you have to go over to the cs station to the pick up the gift cards.

Who doesn't want 20% off at a nice restaurant?
