F U Costco

For that matter I always wondered how the same scenario would play out at Adventure Outdoors. Why the hell does "Big John" need to see your receipt when he just watched you walk 10 feet from the register to the door. What are they going to do if I someone says no? How far are they willing to push that pissing contest? As far as I know no one has any legal right to detain you from leaving their property. At what point does it become kidnapping? You know he's armed and he should reasonably assume you are too. Is it really so far fetched that the above scenario could turn deadly? Meh.
Thats dude is a complete douchebag. When I left AO yesterday he stopped me at the door and asked for my receipt. I politely said "Oops, I already put it away" and started to set my bags down to get it out of my wallet. He very loudly and rudely said "Did they not tell you to hold your receipt for me to check at the exit? They are told to do this at every morning meeting so I know for a fact that you were told to keep it out and visible. I check everty receipt so this is nothing new. " It was quite a ridiculous show. I told him that there was no reason to be rude to their customers and to calm down. He handed me my receipt and didn't say another word.

What do they do if you just ignore him?

Lady pitched a fit with me at walmart cuz I walked out without showing her my receipt. I said, "what about all these other people who are walking out? I don't see you asking them." She said they randomly check, so I said I randomly decline. I told her that I had purchased what was in my bag and that it was now my personal private property and was none of her concern. Like the OP, I said call the cops.
