Factory Five 33 Hot Rod

I love the Cobras and the 818 is badazz but the car I've always wanted to build has never wavered. Very excited but nervous all at the same time. The one thing I have to accept is the fact I'll run into problems and make some mistakes.

I think they called the ones in the Bronco's 351W Modified. I don't know the difference I have a buddy in flowery branch who went Bronco crazy ten or more years ago. I have a 351W in a 65 Mustang but it's been there for years untouched. they are some good engines.

Check the block
If you have a 351 M you could have some other issues as wellIt has some major differences from the 351C and the 351W

You see the article in last months and this months Hot Rod mag about the FFR ?

Please allow me to clear some things up before Boz (or whatever you prefer to be called) gets totally confused. The 351/400M engines are vastly different from anything else Ford ever made. They are essentially a bastardized mix of a tall deck Cleveland and a BBF. I will not go into that any further since it's not pertinent to this thread.

All you need to know... You DEFINITELY have a Windsor.

Thanks, I was in the parts business for many years and now I'm still in the automotive industry although we virtually never see a 351 anymore. I was very aware of the differences.

P6190032.jpg. I believe this is an early version main bearing girdle. It required modifications to clear 4 rods which I understand since this is a stroker engine with 6.25 inch rods. What I don't understand is having to grind oil pump clearance. Looking at the new girdles offered I see the clearance they come with to clear the oil pump. Also the oil pump pickup is designed to bolt under the number three main cap bolt but that wouldn't work either so I straightened the tab , bent a 90 and bolted it to the girdle. Thankfully the bottom end is done, now time to degree the cam and check valve to piston clearance.

Another trip to Summit. Picked up a pushrod length checking tool. Pretty handy item, we didn't have these in the old days. Now at least I can order my pushrods and get this baby buttoned up. Checked valve to piston clearance and I was good there also degreed the cam. Picked up these Summit brand shorty headers and they fit awful. Probably exchange them for a name brand next week.
