Factory Five 33 Hot Rod

Got a bunch of parts yesterday that weren't shipped with car so I was able to complete the fun suspension. I also went ahead and loosely mounted the rack and pinion since it was in my way. P7260001.jpgP7260002.jpgP7260003.jpg

Also got the Wildwood pedal box assembly. Between a couple of missing bolts and some really poor directions and pictures this was a challenge. I went ahead and loosely assembled the setup like I thought the directions were telling me to. Once I understand how they intended the assembly to mount and how they wanted the clutch to work I was able to make a couple of modifications and get her bolted in. P7260004.jpgP7260005.jpg

Some brake line work, loosely mounted electric power steering (can't finalize until engine install) and the fuel tank. Mounting the brake lines with 10-32 stainless screws instead of rivets. Bought a bunch of them to mount the firewall when it gets here so I think I'll use them throughout the car instead of rivets supplied.

man i wish i had the time/money/knowledge/space to do something like that. my dream is to get one of the shelby cobra kits and put one together. maybe one day.......cmon lotto!!!!! lol!

cant wait for the finished pics!!! when you finish, this car will be your official ODT meet-up car lol!

I would present the idea of the screws vs. rivets over on the F5 forum and make sure there's not any unforeseen problems with doing that. Those cars shake like a Harley, and it would suck to be losing screws.

Guess it would be easy to spot...:D

A lot of the guys are using screws to mount the firewalls. Not an original idea on my part. Guess there's always Loctite if they start getting loose. Don't know about the shake part yet, looks like the body is somewhat hard mounted but the engine/trans use traditional mounts.

Well we got some rear brakes installed, the front brake lines finished (although I may make one change), and some matching engine mounts. Guess not painting the oil pan worked out. I changed the way they recommend running the rear brake lines to a more typical passenger car set-up. All I need is a 3/16 by 3/16 brake hose roughly a foot long to make my plan work and look good, all the hard lines are finished except for one fitting. Just need the hose before I install the fitting and flare the line. Mounted the master cylinder reservoir temporarily. I won't commit to a final location until I get the firewall and the manual shows a totally different reservoir that mounts much higher.
