Fawns dropping

GeorgiaGun1 GeorgiaGun1

I'm looking to get started in North GA...non-commercial. Is McMurry's the best place to buy traps? Do the dog proof traps really work? I was going to buy a few dog proof when I trap closer to houses.

I order most of my stuff from F&T Supply or PCS.com.

Haven't ordered from McMurry or Minnesota so not sure how they are on pricing and delivery.

The dog proofs work awesome on coons. But for close to houses a good cage trap will work just as well. And then you wouldn't need to deal with it on the snatch pole.

I would also recommend you check out the DNR regs on trapping. There are a few specifics that can get a little tricky. Like having ID tags on all traps, and the equipment you have to have while trapping. Catch poles, firearm, etc.
Size of trap jaw openings....

It's a great hobby, but does take a little research to make sure you aren't going to get those expensive DNR tickets.

Let me know if I can answer any specifics for you.

Saw a big doe with a pair of fawns behind the barn a couple of weeks ago, and a couple more does with singles behind the house yesterday. Haven't heard or seen coyotes in a while now. Hope they stay away.

I know about the regs you listed but I wasn't aware of regulations on the size of trap openings? Where can I research? Can't seem to find it in the dnr site...Does it still apply for non-commercial or private land trappinf?

Here's a good link for you. About halfway down the page it talks about size of traps for land sets.

I have two fawns and their momma living inside my fence since they were born 3 weeks ago.
Happens every year. Usually have 5-7 deer in the yard every day, in the Acworth area
