Finally got my first motorcycle

My first (and only) was similar, an XR650. I rode it for several years, then sold it for not much less than I paid (used). Don't try me wrong, It was fun,I loved it, (especially that 50 MPG !!) but IMO the whole experience is vastly over rated ( a lot like guys strolling the beach lugging a surfboard, or walking around with a cowboy hat and giant belt buckle, all just about trying to conform to some "image").
It was almost always too hot,too cold, too wet, and always being on pins and needles trying to avoid getting slammed by idiots, all got old quick. Then, the tires cost about the same as tires for a small car, but get 1/6 the mileage!! My Honda XR ( and probably yours) used the engine oil as transmission fluid, so you had oil sheering, which means changing the oil every 700-800 miles !! (Yeah, seriously, look it up) .
Get you a shop manual, and watch some you tube videos, a lot of the basic maintenance isn't too much trouble, and will save you a mint.

The Cushman I had 1958 would be proud to hear that. May it rest in peace.
Those old Cushmans are just cool. I’m just to dang big to ride one.My wife’s Royal Enfield 350 grunts and gripes every time I get on it lol. OP , I’m sure you already know? be extra careful on wet roads with those tires , especially white & yellow road paint. Asphalt vs skin & bone = a taste of hell .

My parents both rode….same as my brothers and I did too.
My mom used to ride a Honda usually. Had several. My dad always had a larger , mostly Harleys or full dresser Hondas. There were so many different bikes when I was growing up.
Folks used to talk because my mother would pull up to pick me up or drop me off at school on a bike sometimes !! 😂
