First impression S&W Bodyguard 2.0 380acp

Great gun, had mine for a few weeks, got 1200 rounds through it now.

For the first 1000 rounds, I’d have approximately 4 FTFs/battery issues per 200 round sessions.

I finally polished both ramp areas at around 800 count but issue continued.

I researched the issue, numerous folks were having similar problem but mostly with hollow points or flat nosed ammo, I was having problems with round/ball though.

I happened upon a YouTube video where a gentleman discovered a lip/edge on top of lower ramp area. Sure enough, so as I removed that, I shot 200 rounds without any further issues.

I like most everything about gun, it does have its goofiness like dual ramps and rear slide cover can’t be removed to access striker without drifting rear sight. Slide stop was initially hard to release but that has broken in. Heard the manual safety models are a bear to actuate. Mags were stiff initially to load but no problem with my loader. 12 cap mag likes to bind on 3 round if you apply pressure in wrong direction, easy fix, just needs follower trimmed on bottom, haven’t got around to it.

Anxiously awaiting aftermarket support although that’s months away, lol!

Thanks for that report…. valuable up-front info for new lookers/buyers on what to anticipate and be looking for….

There's nothing better than getting paid to look out the window....

I have a BG 2.0 and so far I am blown away at how nice it shoots. I can get a very high grip due to the beaver tail. It points very naturally. Sights are good. Recoil is almost non existent. Very flat shooting. Decent trigger. Kind of crazy for a pocket .380. It’s easily the best pocket .380 I’ve ever shot. I really like it.

Does it have double strike ability like the gen 1 ? ie, the slide doesn't have to cycle to reset the trigger, as per Glock.

StuP ….no, the BG2.0 is a true "striker fired" pistol…. as opposed to the first version, which was an internal hammer fired gun…. I finally acquired a BG2.0 about 8 months ago and like the way it shoots…. the gun is very much like the LCPMax in size and the trigger is pretty good outta the box…. pretty close to the LCPMax at about 5 lbs with a short reset travel…. but the low bore axis makes it better shooting than the LCPMax I carried for a couple years…. the BG2.0 I bought also has a safety, which I’m good with…. especially with carrying it in my pocket most of the time it’s on my person….

I bought one for my girlfriend a few months back. I wanted to get her either a SW 642 or a Ruger LCP like mine but we rented a BG 2.0 one time and that's what she liked the best. After shooting it myself I'm very impressed with it as well. Might have to get another one to replace my 642 as my running gun. I don't mind the thumb safety and she really likes it because it makes her feel safer when she carries it in her purse.

It's not the same price as the LCP though. $399 for the BG and you can get an LCP for $199.

Thanks for the info, I have a gen 1 I carry, (also with a safety, "off" when I carry, "on" at other times. I like the hammer fired approach, I think emotionally, rather than for any good reason.

I just sold a BG 2.0 NTS model this morning.
My wife wants to stay with her MP380 Shield EZ 2.0
