OK got it booked, but this is my second season hunting ducks..got a late start. this past season i shot just the winchester steel shot from wally world. any recommendations on shells to take? and how many. doing a 3 morning hunt.

I have been shooting Rio Blue Steel and I love them they are cheap, but they have a special loaded 3" with 1-5/8oz. They are deadly shot a shoveler this past season at about 50 yards and she was stone cold dead!!!

I shot the new HEVI-METAL this past season and the stuff is awesome. I shoot 3" #3's and will be shooting them again this season, give them a try. As far as how many shells you should take.... I would take at least 3 boxes. Not that you will ever need 75 shells to kill 18 ducks... or at least I hope not, lol but i always like to be well prepared and like knowing i have them there.

If your shooting decoying ducks the experts will work. I perfer Kent 3-1/2 #2's them SOB's are deadly on Specks too. Two of us shot our limits with them last yr in about an hour and never had to chase a goose. Killed about 8 snows stone cold dead with them to. With the heavy metals, I agree that they are good shells for the most part, but I know of a buddy that had them jam in his SBE becasue the metal casing was bigger then the plastic. On one occasion it caused a misfire, and if there was not great gun handling by the user, it could have caused some problems. I witnessed the shells jamming more than once.

i do know a lee johnson, taxidermist. just from there, not really on a personal level. I do work with Brad at NU, Andy's brother. i believe yall did some hunting together.

No Not Lee the taxi man.

Lee knew a guy that we hunted with some a few years back and I never knew his name just rabbit, Thats all I ever knew.
