Fn gunsmith

I've got the jig and the parts coming next week, was just curious if anyone had any suggestions on how to make it work smoothly or if using the jig is enough to make it work well.

Understanding what you are punching out and how much force is ok to use.

You can’t press it out because of the shape of the pin. You have to use a hammer and punch.
Did one for a guy not long ago on here, And have never broke a frame yet, But have had people bring me broken frames.
In the end, if you try it yourself and feel like it’s too much for you… stop and bring it to a professional.

just finished putting mine back together. I can't imagine doing it without the special tool you can get from them, but I would guess some come apart easier than others.

I put in the trigger/sear, failure resistant extractor, and the new durable striker (and the stainless guide rod in the 502).

While I have the fixture/jig here, if there's anyone else that might want to install their trigger, they are welcome to borrow it for a day or two (I borrowed it myself).

Really wasn't that hard to do if you follow the instructions and have the right tools. I didn't have the stubby pin but the rest was easy. I had more trouble getting the trigger pivot pin back into place but overall I'd give it a 7 out of 10 for difficulty.

FYI I measured the trigger pull prior to the change, was around 7lbs, after the trigger replacement it was around 4.5-5lbs. much crisper and smoother and feels a lot better than a 2lb reduction should feel.

The extractor and striker were very easy to replace. Biggest issue is you have to remove your optic if you have one mounted to get to the extractor pin. both took me maybe 15 minutes to replace and now I have spares (and can dry fire to my hearts content).

I did my Fn 510 not as difficult as it's made out to sound is it tight yes.
You would have to be a bit on the rough side to break the frame. I didn't have any special tools my Fn had excessive side to side trigger movement drove me nuts.
I used a vice a piece of wood I use for driving pins. A punch and a small ball peen hammer. Not a big deal. I actually did it twice as the first set if shims everything seemed fine but when fired the trigger would not reset.
