For all those living with GERD or acid reflux. Is it too much acid or not enough? Either vinegar or antacid pills.

I take 40 mg Pantaprozole daily

DOnt eat late

avoid acidic food after lunch

avoid carbonation

vinegar is an acid

I do not know how long you have been on it, but pantaprozole (Protonix) is not to be used for long periods. My doctors switched me to Omeprazole

And the GI should be checked ✔️

I’ve experienced GERD for about 9 years. I would wake up randomly at night with a shooting spray of vomit. Sometimes I would aspirate (accidentally inhale it) and nearly choke to tears trying to catch my breath.

Around January of this year my wife had experience a serious health issue and we had to change her entire diet.

Turns out her diet meant that I was on the same diet, especially since I’m the one who does most of the cooking.

We cut out all processed foods, soda, sugary treats, pork products, dairy, most cheese, rice, beans, noodles, and some vegetables.

Proteins we eat; eggs, grilled chicken breasts in bulk (salt/pepper), lean ground turkey, filet steak, lamb chops, venison, and salmon.

Fruits we eat; frozen blueberries, frozen cherries, watermelon, kiwi, occasionally a banana.

Veggies we eat; zucchini, yellow squash, mushrooms, cucumbers, and tomatoes.

Dairy; fresh mozzarella not the bagged crap and Full Fat Fairlife milk (lactose free)

Drinks; bottled spring water (Callaway Blue), Zevia dr pepper flavor, and some flavored seltzer waters.

We use olive oil (I prefer butter but we don’t use it at this time)

I can ABSOLUTELY tell you that I no longer have any type of GERD symptoms after approximately 2 weeks into the diet. It’s almost like having a headache and when it goes away you forget about it and how painful it was.

We’ve narrowed her issue down to possibly gallbladder stones. So basically she is on an extremely low fat diet to avoid extreme intestinal pain.

I drink Fairlife whole milk with a quality protein powder to help me maintain muscle mass along with a string of common vitamins and minerals.

I have eaten fast food twice in 8 months… I feel alive inside with more energy and stress management has been great. Sleeping isn’t an issue and I don’t take any medications for any symptoms at this time outside of maybe Tylenol/Motrin for muscle/pain management as needed.

I recommend considering altering your food/drink intake for 2 weeks just to give it a shot.

Too long

I asked recently about that , issues related to long term usage
I did almost 2 years on it. Went in for an endoscopy, colonoscopy at the same time, and that doctor immediately stopped the Protonix and switched to Omeprazole

I know the problem is me and my habits that cause most the of the problems. I really need to change my diet like medium187mph medium187mph .

Alcohol, caffeine and late night eating are my issues

You're the only other person I knnow who's had it as bad as I did. I would wake up in the middle of the night because I was throwing up on my arm (side sleeper). Drinking orange juice or anything similar was painful. I would constantly wake up and grab a spoonful of peanut butter to try and sooth the pain.

Turns out I had gallstones and when they removed my gallbladder, all my acid reflux stopped overnight. Unfortunately I'm dealing with the effects of acid erosion on my teeth now.
