? For veterans.

Lowes now requires you to register your ID in their system and enter your phone number when you check out. They do some sort of verification on it.

.

You sign up for it, give phone number and address, IIRC. Then when checking out, give phone number and show an ID (dr license works for me) to verify it is you. I am in there 3 or 4 times a month.

He tells me Lowes gives him the discount with his ID.

Guess it depends on which one you go to. You are supposed to register now (has been that way for a year or 2). Every time I go to a lowes I have to enter my number so they can verify I'm in the system. I think they did that so it takes the guess work away from the cashier to know what a valid ID looks like

I don't believe he cares about the verification process, he just wants the 10% off. I would imagine lots of people try to get this discount, it can run into big bucks.

If his VA ID is expired then he can go to the VA and get a new VA card.
To get a Veteran drivers license he will need to go to the DMV with is DD214 form (release from active duty papers).
To get a Lowes discount he will need to go online and submit either his DD214 or his Honorable Discharge. (Honorable Discharge certificate is MUCH more safe since it doesn't have any info except your name and date of separation)

Thanks. I wonder if he can do this at the Rome va? I believe the drivers license would be the way to go.

He needs to register, it's not that difficult and just takes a couple minutes. And yes they went to this system (like many other businesses are) to avoid all the fraud and fake ID's.
