Ford ecoboost engines???????

I'm in the market for a new truck and I want to hear some people's experience with the Ford ecoboost engines. Good and bad. I'm not partial to any brand I just think Ford has the best looking trucks out there. I'm looking at the Platinum model, but not sure about those twin turbos. I'm sure they are fine when they are new, but what about when they get some age on them. Thanks for any input.

Someone told me that the new F-150s shut the engine off when you stop-like a hybrid.

Been drivin f150's for the past 30 yrs. The 5.0 has always been my favorite, but when I drove the 3.5, twin turbo, I was so impressed I bought one. At 16k miles I love it even more. And it's actually been life changing for me. I Haul only my butt and bikes in the bed but I mostly enjoy racing & 'eating-up' all the new muscle cars on the road. Seems the word is out on the twin turbos and I can tell you, they don't disappoint off the line.. hahaha, Yipee!

Watch the video and be impressed.
Had a 2013 model and then traded it for the newer 2015 model when it came out. Love the ecoboost and think that it is a great step forward. I get the advertised MPG between 20 and 21 locally and around 22 on the hwy. Towing is another story. Be prepared to be impressed with it's towing ability but also be prepared for the fall off in MPG's.

Blah, blah, blah. I wanna see all these Ecoboost's once they hit 100K+ miles. Till then, I'll stick with my V8's.

Get the new 2017 if you want to go F150. New 3.5l ecoboost and 10 speed. I've never had good luck with Fords. Had several different models and all were ****. Customer service was never good with Ford either.

If I was in the market I'd probably go Toyota Tundra or the new Nissan Titan. If I went domestic then I'd consider a Chevy first.

I have a 2010 Taurus sho with it and have a 174,000 on it and have had no engine issues. I also have a 2014 flex with the ecoboost about 50,000 on it and no engine issues

That's simply untrue. They absolutely do long term testing. You pick a vehicle manufacture and I can pick a model or motor from each year that was a lemon. If you judge Ford on the 6.0 (which you also falsely claim was "just a couple of years ago") perhaps you should judge them on the reliability of that motor in its last two years of production instead of cherry picking. I'm a proud 7.3 owner but Ford will tell you that last gen 6.0s were actually the most reliable diesel motor they ever produced according to warranty records.

Why did so many 6.0s self destruct when actual customers bought them but not when ford supposedly tested them ?

Why did the 4.8/5.4 not spit out spark plugs during fords supposedly extensive long term testing , but spit out when actual customers bought them?

Why did the spark plugs not break off inside the 5.4 when ford supposedly tested them but break off in the real world ?

Answer : Obviously ford didn't test them long term.
Either that or they did test them and simply didn't care about the defects

My perspective is a little different because I have never and I'll never buy a brand new car , in fact almost every vehicle I've ever bought had over 100k on it when I bought it
New vehicles simply depreciate too fast , they usually lose 75% of their value in
Five or six years
I don't borrow money to buy automobiles and I don't buy them unless they are 7-8 years old and almost bottomed out in price

My current vehicle , a 04 Ford Expedition , we bought when it was 8 yrs old , in excellent condition with every available factory option , 4wd, heated and cooled leather seats , sunroof , DVD player etc with 108k on it for $6400
The person who bought it new paid $49k
Including sales tax and interest in their loan , they paid right at FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS to drive it for 7 years and 100k

We paid $6500 and have owned it almost the same length of time they did and have put 120k on it and we could probably sell it for $5k
We've gotten the same use out of it as they did , but instead of losing $ 50k , we've lost $2k



So I want something that has a known reliability record , I'm not going to pay ford or any other company to be their product tester .

And even if I had truckloads of cash to blow and buy a brand new vehicle , I'd never buy the very first model year , those are always filled with recalls , TSBs and other bugs
