Fraudulent card charges

I bet 7 or 8 have been people trying to sneak in phone apps. 1.99 here and there hoping I won't catch the charges.

Several years ago it was NetFlix rentals. One rental, then another, then a big purchase from somewhere.

Then it went to grocery stores, a $20-30 purchase, then a $100, then they went to a big box store for the flat screen TV.

Ten + years ago I had to get new cards from our CU twice in about two years.

USAA will call you if they see some crazy purchases in a place outside your "normal" range.

4 thru 6 years ago I went thru 12 prepaid debit cards with PNC . Lots of fraudulent charges , had a card reissued and had fraudulent charges on it BEFORE I even got it ! Half the charges were from internal thieves . They were deducting money . They had VERY weak security ! Was constantly getting in to my account and changing my settings to theirs . I don’t use anything except a prepaid debit card for online purchases . With a lot better bank now .

I hardly ever use my debt card.

I always use a CC and pay everything off. That way when things like this happen it aint my money I'm trying to get back.

And collect miles.

It's very simple,,, QUIT USING YOUR DEBIT CARD I never use them and I took my wife card from here, Put alerts on every card you have

We keep our credit history/reports frozen. Had some person in south Atlanta use it to apply to an online college in New Jersey and get two college debit cards with $4 grand on each.

I check our credit reports regularly and found it in our credit history. It took six months to fix it. An effing nightmare. We just keep our credit frozen now.

I always use a CC and pay everything off. That way when things like this happen it aint my money I'm trying to get back.

On firearm purchases and large ticket items I use a prepaid card so my checking accounts are not at risk. They timed it just right this time. As soon as I added the funds they hit. It only cost 2 bucks per purchase to use it but the major card companies won't be tracking where and what I am spending it on. I always take the money out of the bank load the card and make the purchase forthwith. I just feel more comfortable that way. Gives me a little peace of mind. Well! It did.
