Free Homelite Gas Trimmer

If you say it runs on half choke, then sounds like a carb leak or the like. Could also be the carb pump diaphragm. Usually you can get a new carb for those little two strokes for $50 or less shipped. I've replaced a couple in small yard tools. Just a suggestion to check.

Thanks for the info. I'm afraid if I went that route, I'd be into it more than it's worth. Plus I've already gone out and got another trimmer. Thanks again

I had a leaf blower I got free from a buddy with the same type of problem. It was the plate that goes between the engine and the carburateur. It was loose, allowing it to suck extra air in AFTER the carb, that's why it ran on half choke, it was getting too much air. Tightened that plastic plate up and it ran fine. I still have to tighten it occasionally, it keeps working it's way loose. Try that, it might solve your problem.
