What happened that it needed a new motor within 70,000 miles?

So it made it 91,000 miles... but the catalytic converter was clogged somehow and caused all that pressure build up to come back through the engine.. cause the timing chain to be thrown off and then caused a piston to hit the cylinder.

So it was either pay $3200 to fix the engine or pay $3500 for a new one
