Item Description: 32-5/8 inch round barrel chambered in 45-70 caliber with a very good bore. Blade front sight and ladder-style rear. Overall gun in excellent condition. Breech block markings are very clear and show the correct early "1873" marking with the Eagle head and crossed arrows. Metal including barrel and receiver are around 90% or so. Lock plate is marked "1873". "Springfield" marking is very clear. Barrel markings are very clear. Very good wood has no cracks and no repairs. Arsenal marking US on butt plate above on the wood. Trapdoor latch functions as it should. Has three swivels. Cleaning rod is present. Beautiful old gun! This historic gun has an early 180*** serial number and was made in 1882. Could be one of the finest 1873's for sale online as far as I can see.
