Item Description: Vietnam war era military tracer ammo.
5.56 mm. Red painted bullet tip.
4 boxes of 20.
All except 4 rounds are headstamped the same: WCC 68
Those have red sealant around the primers.
4 rounds in 1 box have purple sealant on primers and are dated in the 1970s. Same red tips on bullets, though.
The “Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation” white cardboard boxes say lot # 6134.
I have not shot any of this ammo in 25 years.
If I recall correctly, 25 years ago, I tried shooting a few rounds at 50 yards, and I only saw a couple of them trace. Later I was told that 5.56 tracers don’t always become visible until they’ve gone at least 50 yards. I have never attempted to use these tracers at 100 or 200 yards.
Now I think they have more value as collector’s items than as SHTF defense / militia ammo.
Milsurp collectors take note!
Price:
$40 for 1 Box.
$30 each for 2 or 3 boxes.
$100 for all 4 boxes of it. ($25/Box)
Will trade (full boxes of 20 only) at 4:1 for new (made last 10 years) 223 or 5.56 Wolf, Silver Bear, Brown Bear, or quality commercial remanufacturd ammo like Georgia Arms canned heat.
