In the photo, I don't see any threads on that barrel. But a barrel extension is shown right above it.
Isn't the barrel extension a screw-on accessory for barrels with a fairly big and coarse thread at the muzzle?

It doesn't look like it. That barrel extension probably fits pre-1994 versions of the Tec-9 or DC-9,

or pre-1994 versions of the SWD or Cobray 9mm pistols that look like this:
It would also fit any of the guns made by these companies in 2005 or afterward, since the federal "assault weapon ban" had sunset in Sept. 2004.
During the 1994-2004 period, "assault pistols" like these were not allowed to have threaded muzzles for attaching any kind of muzzle device.
