Item Description: Offering up a very nice, well take care of .69cal M1840 rifled musket mfg by L. Pomeroy. The Pomeroy contract muskets were thought to have been used by both CSA/US during the civil war. This musket has been very well taken care of over the years and still retains a majority of its armory bright finish throughout. The stock is in great shape and free of and cracks or damage. Inspection marks are present on the left stock flat and various other locations. Pomeroy is said to have only produced around 7000 of the m1840 muskets, with even less being rifled and equipped with the extended range rear sight. The 1840 was the last martial arm that was initially accepted as a flintlock, but quickly converted to percussion via the “cone in barrel” method. The bore is in great shape for its age with visible rifling and it shoots consistently with patched round ball and 60-75gr of FFg. A must have for any martial arms or civil war collector. Located in Jasper, GA. Local meetup, cash, PP F&F, or cashiers check preferred.
