What is the history of the enscription on the right side of the barrel?

According to the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson it was part of a 12 gun commemorative set manufactured in 1990 by Smith & Wesson for Ellett Bros. of Chaplin, South Carolina. The set commemorates the Golden Era of Advertising Illustration & Art in the firearms industry during the 19th century. The series of 12 different guns was sold by subscription with a different theme gun offered each month. This gun was the February edition.
