Hey ODT!

A few years ago while browsing through my local gun shop, I happened across a very sorry looking West German P226 for sale in the gun case. I was new at that time to handguns, and really had no introduction to tHe SIG SAuer brand. Long story short, I decided to make this a project gun, so I could learn more about SIG’s, and along the way have some fun!

One of the things I learned along the way was about date codes and proof markings for earlier model SIG Sauer handguns (see the link if interested to learn more about proof markings and date code in an article by Ferrari Steve. https://www.realgunreviews.com/sig-sauer-proof-marks-date-codes/)

This P226 has a date code of JJ which is the date code for 88, hence the model year 1988. There are two proof marks under the slide shroud, one is the Kiel Proof House Mark which began proving SIG Sauer West German Handguns in 1968. Since Kiel is only 17 miles from SIG Sauer’s manufacturing facility in Eckernförde, that’s the proof mark you should expect to see on a proofed SIG Sauer.

The second proof mark (which is also on the original P226 barrel and frame), is the German definitive mark and nitro testing proof mark. The Eagle-N mark signifies that the firearm was proofed in Germany (or West Germany, depending on when the firearm was proofed), while the “N” indicates that the firearm was proofed using a Nitro Beschuss load. “Beschuss” translates as “bombardment,” “shelling,” or “firing” depending on context, and “nitro” is short for “nitrocellulose,” a highly flammable compound used to creates pressures inside the firearm higher than standard gun powder. This proof mark indicates the weapon was tested for pressures 30% higher than normal loads for the particular weapon.

The following is included (please see the attached photos) with this weapon:
  • The P226 West German as shown, PLANO case, do not have original box or docs
  • Custom Cerakote work done by GA Firing Line (sniper gray frame with graphite black small parts & graphite black slide
  • Siglite Night Sights installed (bright like new)
  • SRT kit installed for short rest trigger action
  • Hogue G10 grips
  • Original P226 barrel with matching serial number to slide and frame (original barrel bore bright and shiny)
  • Second SIG OEM P226 barrel that I have used at the range.
  • Original plastic P226 grips, and newer P226 marked plastic grips.
  • Magazines: 2-20 round drop safe MEC-GAR magazines; 2-15 round SIG Sauer magazines; 1-17 round MEC-GAR magazine; 1-15 round original zipper back SIG Sauer magazine. Total of 6 magazines included.
  • BLADETECH SIG Sauer P226 RH IWB Holster (never carried this one!)
So there you have it ODT! Hope you at least found this posting informative, maybe you might be interested in this package, so please PM any questions or offers for this beautiful weapon. I of course do not know the previous round count, but I have personally put about 500 rounds through this weapon. Any one who has shot SIG’s in the past, especially the P226 model, know these are outstanding platforms. Ergonomics with the G10 grips are awesome, trigger action in SA especially with the SRT kit installed are superb for super quick reset and follow-up shots.

A bit of history free of charge on this weapon for your review, and maybe purchase! You will need to show both a valid Georgia Drivers License and Concealed Carry Weapon’s License at the time of meet. Will not conclude a sale without these docs, sorry, that is how I roll.

Please pray for our troops around the globe!

Semper Fi!

Marc

Love it . Looks great I thought about having my 1985 cerokoted but it's a work horse and I don't mind the ware. However that thing is sharp and a good deal to boot .

Thanks Sir! GA Firing Line does great cerakote work and very reasonable prices! If you ever change your mind you should check them out. Appreciate the kind words!

If I was local, I'd prolly jump on this quick! Great deal! Just a suggestion, but some pics of the proof marks on bottom of slide could help move it faster IMO, Sig guys looking for all German Sigs like to see those. Awesome pistol! The SRT was a good move & the refinish looks great!
