Item Description: I have a older used smith Wesson 38 great gun great shooter, carried a lot and has wear on it but still a great little pistol seeing what may be out there to trade

The latch that you slide forward to open the cylinder is the "flat" style.
That means the gun is at least 50 years old. 1966 or before.
Does this gun have the model number "36" stamped on the frame, inside where the cylinder crane assembly goes (which means you have to open the cylinder to read it)?

I think Blip is referring to the finish being flat, not the latch.
