G17 Gen4 Issues? Someone ease my mind!

some of the issues were with the recoil spring when they first came out all that has been fixed i got a gen 4 19 and i have had no problems with it except the everynow and then a piece of brass would hit me in the face but thats what hats are for.

We had a few issues w/ some earlier gen. 4 19's but not the 17's.

I don't recall any issues w/ gen. 4 17's in classes & we've seen A LOT of them.

If there ever is a problem take it to Smyrna & they'll usually fix it while you wait.

I ran 1700 rounds through my gen 4 g 19. It went through 2 courses and numerous range outings. detail cleaned from time to time. I had one issue with it.. I switched out factory springs for a lighter trigger pull and when using winchester nato ammo, it would fail to ignite their hard primers, switch springs back and it ran fine. The only malfunction it ever had I induced. if that sets your mind at ease then I guess my post helped.

Have about 1000 rds through mine..with NO issues whatsoever.....

Took a class from Monte (Protective Measures) on Friday and shot 300 rds through it with NO ISSUES, no lube, nothing...just burning powder and grinning the whole time!

Wow you guys must be the lucky ones. I've taken my Gen 4 Glock 19 to smyrna TWICE due to CONSTANT brass in the face and the occasional stovepipe and both times it came back doing the same thing. I also took my Gen 2 19 by there (which I have NEVER had a problem with through about 1,000 rounds) to have night sights put on and they "replaced a few old parts" in the process and now it stovepipes at least once every 50 rounds, for about the past 4-500 rounds, and there's constant brass in the face with this one now too. Before anyone says it no I'm not limpwristing and I fired the gun previously without error before they "upgraded the internals". I've read that it's the new extractors that's the problem so I've ordered a Lonewolf extractor and will let you know if that fixes it. Should be here in the next few days, but hey at least if the common problems happen to you then you'll (hopefully) know of a surefire fix if this works.

What's the build date on your gen 4?

I think I'm gonna take my g17 in to Smyrna and see if I can get the extractor switched out.

Tasting hot brass is not that much fun.
