GA Gun Club in Gwinnett is FINALLY opening May 30!

This place is great, but besides the 100yd rifle range, I don't see any real benefit over the numerous ranges in the area. For sighting in a rifle, it's worth it, but at $25/hr per person per hour, taking 3 friends or kids along is $100/hr. I hate to sound overly-critical, but that is a joke. Same goes for pistol lanes at $72/hr for 4 shooters. I can go to Dead Center a few miles away with three others and shoot for $14 per person - total, not hourly - for as long as I want, and on any day including Saturday. They don't have a 100yd range, but it's a very good, clean facility with a great target system.

I understand that your primary goal is to drive membership sales, but due to time constraints and/or ammo costs, a lot of folks don't shoot often enough to justify it. I'm only posting this in here in hopes that you may consider being more competitive with other ranges to draw in more shooters not looking to purchase a membership.

every other range I been to doesn't have a range safety guys (NRA certified if that means anything)standing behind the lanes (pistol and rifle) watching everyone making sure nobody acts a fool. ide pay a little extra for that and one of the reasons I really like that range. the ventilation is amazing aslo, better that Dead Center imo.

the extra shooter charge is to high imo. and if they stay hourly charging how they are, I think every hour after the first should be half price or something like that.

Only other range I've been to with a range officer is GA Firing Line. Although, it was more like a range Nazi. I almost got kicked out for doing double taps. And, apparently, I can't count in 1 second increments because he came back to tell me I was shooting too fast. Never went back.

the guy that was there when I went was really cool. almost used up my hour just talking to him haha! (i was the 1st one in the rifle range that day lol). and from what they posted on here, dbl taps/rapid fire/slide fire/full auto is fine with them.

For what they're charging, it should be an all-day rate, not by the hour. I want to try out the 100 yard range, but that's kind of a novelty. Trigger Time is plenty nice for much less money. I believe it's $12.50 first shooter, $7.50 each additional. The last thing I want when I go shooting (ammo is expensive enough), is to feel rushed. I bet if you gauged it, most people that pay 'all day' don't stay there much more than an hour. You want to feel like you're providing value. An 'NRA range officer' should add negligibly to the cost.

I don't mind the price and hell, I'm driving from Marietta. I am not a regular shooter though, and I typically only go to a range to sight something in or shoot my NFA toys ever so often. I could see how it would be pricey for someone that makes a hobby out shooting.

I've been there a few times so I thought i'd share my experiences and opinion.

I really want them to survive and thrive (I live very close), but with range prices like theirs, I think most enthusiasts will probably go elsewhere once they check it out once or twice. I've shot there twice, once rifle and once pistol, I have to say that after paying those prices for range time, hearing someone radio the range officer to say "tell Lane 21 he has 10 more minutes" is really kind of irritating. It's almost like, "kick this guy off the range already". Then you go up front and see no one else waiting. Wouldn't it be better to let people run out of ammo so you can sell them more? It's a nice place, and I know they have to pay for it somehow, but I think it's more for new shooters that don't know about the other ranges in the area. Dead Center is a much better deal, with good ventilation to boot. Trigger time is small and nice except their ventilation could be better, and they have a "range officer" that makes sure nothing stupid happens too.

I'm sure the range officers here will stop anything stupid, but I think the main reason they have them is to show people how to use the digital pads for the target trolleys and to tell people when their time is up (mostly for the time thing). They do have an older range officer that is very cool - a super nice guy.

As far as gun prices, they're hit and miss. They actually had something I wanted so I went by there today on my way home from work to purchase, but I was also in a hurry to pick up the family to go to dinner. I thought, no problem, I have a CCW, I'll be out in a jiffy. Not so - they still make you fill out all the paperwork and run the same background check as anyone else. The girl (that originally tried to ignore me when I walked up to the counter) said it's their "policy" even if you have a CCW (then why did she even ask if I had one??). The state has already deemed me ok thank you very much. Anyway, that was annoying and needless to say I didn't have time for that so I left. I'm going to buy somewhere else out of principle now, which is a shame. They probably thought I left because I didn't want to have a background check.

Their people haven't had enough time to become know-it-alls yet and they seem pretty cool (that girl I talked to today was iffy), so hopefully they'll work it all out and do enough business to keep the doors open long term.
