GAMO Whisper Maxxim

I picked up a Benjamin Titan NP or something like that, for maybe $160 at Academy a couple years ago. .22 cal at 800fps and hits way harder than a .177 does. Great for yard pests...

I will give Academy a look for sure. Was it pretty accurate?

The only Titan Academy.com shows now is .177

Like I mentioned, I need to bust a water bottle under air pressure at 50-75 yards.
I have a Gamno Whisper wildcat in 22. It will poke a hole in 1/2 plywood out to 70 yds. The 177 is a faster shooter but the 22 holds it's F/P a little longer and is more stable over the longer haul.
If you need it for a project I'll loan you mine. It's got a 4x16X44 with parallax and is a great shooter.

As much as I do appreciate the offer I make it a practice not to borrow if I can help it, just me. With that said, tell me more about it. Where did you buy it and for how much? I have been watching YouTube videos on big bore air gun hunting and those things are just incredible! !! I haven't seen any prices or suppliers but betting they are costly!!!

Online stores like Pyramyd Air and Airgun Depot are the big dealers in airguns and they have discounts for first time buyers. Bass pro and Cabelas have a good selection but you're paying Bass Pros premium prices. Academy is hit or miss but some stores do carry some decent guns.
Someone brought a 357 Texan to a shoot last month and that thing packs a wallop.

50-75 yards is way past the practical effective rsnge of most airguns, even break-barrel spring-piston models.
25?to 40 yards is good.
And .22 pellets hold their energy better atvthe long ranges.
Try a Beeman "Silver Jet" pellet for penetration.
They're heavier than most designs, and they have a sharply pointed nose.

I agree with most of this however the technology of airguns is advancing at a tremendous rate and the accuracy distances of the newer guns is expanding all the time. Google Extreme Benchrest to see whats happening in the Airgun world.
