I voted "not finish up here" because I left in 2015. TN is a tax free state and almost completely RED (Shy of Memphis and Nashville).

And that's the problem anywhere you move to. There will always be a major population center or two that the locusts will flock to taking control of the state in time.

I see the Wyoming comments - I hunt Wyoming every year last 6 years - it is beautiful but it is COLD and austere is a kind way of saying nothing to do. I am thinking northern AL or TN - but TN has Nashville and that may = Atlanta for dragging the state down.
I'm pretty much a loner, sounds like Heaven to people like me.

Have you spent much time in WY? Dont get me wrong - I really enjoy VISITING Wyoming. Also, WY will be dominated by the rich people from CA that buy up the resort property. I am from South GA moved to North GA - WY highways are designed to be closed due to deep snow. Take your long johns and a lot of books to read.

My son is leaving for college in the North East next year and the wife and i are seriously considering a move to New Hampshire. At least for part of the year and may change our state of residence to there. I dont see us leaving GA totally though. House is paid off so we will likely keep it and live in GA several months out of the year.

New Hampshire is very freedom loving and becoming more so everyday.

15 pages of comments and not a single mention of Costa Rica. Ten years ago, it was the destination beyond everyone's escape hatch, even mine (so much so that my screen name spells it out). My wife is Costa Rican born and raised, I've been going there for the past 20 years and have seen my dream "go-to" be infected with leftist policies and the quicksand of thick government bureaucracy. It is still a beautiful country, friendly people and the best food. But taxes are rising faster than my blood pressure when reading about this election, freedom to do what you want is disappearing, kidnappings are on the rise, and their Covid rules make ours look like a walk in the park.
So, where do I go? I've been in GA since early 90s. I do like it here (not so much in metro Atlanta), we were thinking of a lake home but if GA is turning blue, then there's nothing that makes me have faith that ANY other state will not do the same.
Gents, I believe given how brazen the Dems got lately, that there may very well be no harbor for us in the coming years. We may very well be facing a decade or longer of ruthless authoritarian rule that will reach even your most fortified cabin deep in the woods.
