They are already in Macon. It’ll spread quicker than COVID during a door knob licking contest in China. Watching my New Yorker neighbors looking at me like I’m insane when I wave to them gives me a chuckle. I go out of my way to yell hello at them now.
No one is safe. The monetary events that will overtake us were in motion long before the current covid/BLM/ presidential lottery fraud-hoax-hysteria. These monetary events will occur regardless of who holds power. Every country on the planet is debasing their currency as fast as they can.....even if one has his own private Island, it will only be a matter of time before whatever one has of value will be stolen one way or another.
I'm here in TX (DFW) nowadays, unfortunately. I finally let wifey talk me into moving because both sides of the family live here, and man, I've been regretting it. No mountains, no epic hikes, blazing Summers (yes, even worse)... my main pasttime for the past couple of years has been Zillow surfing. I'm an outdoorsy person and this TX experience has me bitching to wifey every single day. We bought an RV for travel but that does not come close. I'd love mountains in AZ or NM, or heck, even somewhere like WY or ID, but practicality (ahem, affordability) dictates something like N GA or TN or NC. I want acreage somewhere kind of remote, with immediate access to mountain hiking. As others have said, I don't see the cancer ceasing to spread and so N GA is not eliminated from the search. I miss it terribly and have really good memories from my time there. I think you guys still have it good, and firearm laws are even more lax for you than here.
Word! I lived in SAV 2005-2006. Pretty place, not too terribly much to do. Jax was a constant weekend trip for me at the time.
Sorry boss but you're delusional. Don't forget, we almost elected Butto and were darn close to giving Pedo Joe a much of electoral votes this time around. Texas is purple now; Californians keep pouring in all over. It's not just Austin any more.
Unfortunately the only place in TX that I actually would have liked to live was the Austin area. There's hills and trees and actual countryside, and the weather is pretty decent there as well. Of course it's also the state capital and is leading the charge to california-ize the rest of the state.
Other parts of TX have some cool things in them, but also a lot of garbage. San Antonio has the Riverwalk and the Alamo which are very cool to see, but the rest of the city drab and depressing. Dallas is generic 'big city' and while Ft. Worth is a little nicer, it's still no great shakes. And I wouldn't send a convicted pedo to Houston.
I agree with most of this. Pretty places in Hill Country with any amount of land are now so freaking expensive, so there goes that idea. We're purple now, to boot, and so many on this forum seem to be in denial about that. Lord please give me a bunch more years, for I must not die until I live somewhere kind of secluded in the mountains

DFW has the worst weather in the country IMO. Hang tough. I concur with your other options. If I go it'll be hill country. Yeah over the last 3 years prices there have gone through the roof!
I was originally planning to retire out to AZ, but that state flipped incredibly fast. I'd really like to stay here in GA but we'll have to see how fast and how far down things go.
There is hope though... I had written FL off as a lost cause, but they seemed to have turned around politically. If push comes to shove, S. Carolina is a possibility, as is TN.
