Georgia will have Reciprocity with Virginia on July 1st, 2016

I'm sorry Ken...........but you are hugely wrong on this. Virginia is turning into a recognition state on Friday, July 1st. By recognizing Georgia's GWCL, it automatically makes Georgia return the recognition. GCO has had a conversation with AG Olens and he is supposed to announce the reciprocity with Virginia on Friday. But it is not hinging on his announcement, because of the way GA's reciprocity law is written. It becomes automatic just like reciprocity became automatic with SC when Haley put her signature on the bill several weeks ago.

"Although the new law will require Virginia to grant recognition to all states that issue permits........."

On February 26, legislation was signed into law to address the Attorney General’s arbitrary cancellation of concealed carry reciprocity agreements with 25 states. House Bill 1163 and Senate Bill 610, patroned by Delegate Michael Webert (R-18) and state Senator Bryce Reeves (R-17), will recognize all valid out-of-state concealed carry permits. This legislation will also require the Virginia State Police to enter into reciprocal agreements with certain states so they will recognize Virginia’s concealed carry permit. Virginia's new total recognition law will go into effect on July 1, 2016.

OK your right. Wasn't a few months ago the Gov was removing ALL states from the reprocity. There was a HUGE uproar I guess this was the law makers response. And the Gov signed it... Must have wanted to keep his liberal ass elected.
Good deal.

But that web page has drastically changed since I first posted this thread. It will be nice when we are listed, but that does not make the law valid.

You can carry into Virginia now with a GWCL and follow their laws, likewise a Virginia CHP holder can now carry into Georgia following our carry laws.

Virginia is now accepting our GWCL as of today, so that automatically makes our GA Reciprocity law go into effect...........thus creating reciprocity with Virginia.

O.C.G.A. § 16-11-126
Having or carrying handguns, long guns, or other weapons; license requirement; exceptions for homes, motor vehicles, private property, and other locations and conditions

(e) Any person licensed to carry a handgun or weapon in any other state whose laws recognize and give effect to a license issued pursuant to this part shall be authorized to carry a weapon in this state, but only while the licensee is not a resident of this state; provided, however, that such licensee shall carry the weapon in compliance with the laws of this state.
