getting rid of comcast

i just paid my last months bill. i am moving and my new roommate already established internet at the new pad

they claim i owe them for late fees or some other nonsense, but its comcast so naturally they are full of ****. but i have a modem i rented from them i need to return. i could give a wooden nickle about paying them the rest of the supposed balance owed, but i need to return the equipment

i also am so done with this company that i never want to spend my time dealing with them again. how should i go about canceling my account for good? cause there is no way in hell i am calling their customer service department.

im thinking about boxing it up and returning it to an xfinity store. anyone deal with cancelling your service with them?

These companies kinda have you by the nads until you leave them. Then the alligator tears roll from their "customer retention dept" when they try to talk you into staying. Be strong my friend...don't cave in. Lol

I dropped DirecTV and went to an antenna about 6 months ago. I get all the major networks, plus a few movie channels that mostly play movies that you've never heard of. LOL

My biggest problem with going to an antenna was that I didn't want to lose my DVR. After doing a little googling, I found out about the Channel Master DVR+. It works pretty much like a DirecTV DVR, but it's made for over-the-air TV. It's got an onscreen guide and program info and everything. It costs $250 and you have to add an external hard drive to it to store your shows, but there's no subscription fee.

I figure in the past 6 months that I haven't been paying DirecTV $80 per month, that my new setup has more than payed for itself.
Well I'm all for not paying for TV. And I was good at it for a while. The antenna I bought for $30.00 from Amazon came with its own rotator and remote to rotate it. We had one of those quick crete mounted Directly TV riches in the yard from the previous tenant that wasn't serving any purple. So I went to Lowe's in Brummick and tied a 10' length of fence pipe to the roof of the Soul and headed home. Mounted my antenna and got about 15 channels . Granted a few of them are Spanish and religion but I get all the networks. And as an added bonus the former satellite pole is also an anchor for my clothesline.

ok, so where do i return the box to? can i go to an xfinity store with everything and say "here you guys are"?

i can record it for evidence too

There's an xFinity office in Buckhead behind the Container Store at the corner of Wieuca and Peachtree near Phipps Plaza. That's where I returned my modem. Make sure you hold it until you've actually made it to the return counter (they'll want to put it in a big pile on the counter with everyone else s gear) and get a receipt. Give yourself extra time for the return, there's usually at least a 30 minute wait.

Good luck with them! I haven't found one Internet/ cable company that I've ever been happy with! I'm currently with direct TV and yes they sux also. I'd definitely recommend sending the equipment back, and I guess they have you over a barrel on the bill. If you don't pay they can ding your credit.

THEY WILL RUIN YOUR CREDIT.......

So pay the fees and get a receipt for the equipment and also have bill state is service is cancelled and account closed. Go to a walk in center.

Without this documentation they will bend you over...

just a strong suggest to strongly consider...

I hated there service also, once I moved to Suwanee, I boxed there stuff up and took it to there location, because they will charge allot of money for that equipment, I told them to send me a bill, got a receipt for the returned equipment, never heard from them again, if you don't want to take it to them have a friend take if in for you, !! Make sure he gets a receipt for the returned equipment.

are you sure its their retention department and not the equipment department saying you returned something without "x", therefore they cannot accept it as a completed return or some-such?
